The market rate for site biodiversity assessments are currently between $2,500-$15,000 per assessment per site, depending on the size of the site. With Xylo Systems, assessments can be as low as $2000 per site for the lifetime of that site, with potential savings ranging from $500 to $13,000 per site. These cost savings enable companies to conduct more frequent and extensive assessments, gaining comprehensive insights into their environmental impacts without incurring excessive expenses. With the ability to identify efficiencies, reduce risks, and optimise resource usage, businesses can make informed decisions that drive sustainability, enhance brand reputation, attract environmentally conscious customers, and potentially access new sustainable markets and financing opportunities.
Biodiversity, short for biological diversity, refers to the variety and variability of life on Earth. It encompasses all living organisms, including plants, animals, fungi, and microorganisms, as well as the ecosystems and habitats in which they exist. Biodiversity is not only about the number of different species but also about the genetic diversity within each species and the diversity of ecosystems present in a given area.
The health of the global economy depends on nature. The World Economic Forum estimates that 44 trillion USD of value generation, representing more than 50% of global GDP, is dependent on nature, biodiversity and the services it supports. This means that the relationship that companies have with nature can create business risks but also huge opportunities for improving both sustainability and profitability. Biodiversity measurement and management can help identify biodiversity risks and opportunities in your operations. By incorporating biodiversity into your strategy, businesses benefit through long-term viability of business models, cost savings, increases in operational efficiency, increased market shares, predictable and stable supply chains, better relationships with stakeholders and customers, and access to new markets, products and services.
Our platform aggregates biodiversity data from a large number of verified data sources and assesses biodiversity impact using a biodiversity index. The Xylo biodiversity index is based on well known and scientifically credible species diversity measurement methodologies including species richness (the number of species within a defined region), species abundance (the number of individuals per species within a defined region) species distribution (geographical distribution of occurrence of biological organisms) and species diversity (the number and relative abundance of species found in a habitat or ecosystem).
Xylo Systems is best placed to assist businesses and organisations who need to understand their direct impact on the environment including property development, building, infrastructure, energy, and renewable energy.
Our platform does not yet assess supply chain impact.
Xylo Systems ensures the accuracy and reliability of its biodiversity data through a rigorous data validation and verification process. The platform sources data from reputable and research-grade databases, scientific publications, government agencies, and expert-contributed datasets, which are thoroughly vetted for authenticity and credibility. Additionally, Xylo employs advanced data validation algorithms and quality control measures to identify and rectify any inconsistencies or errors in the collected data. Regular updates and cross-referencing with multiple sources further enhance the data's reliability, ensuring that businesses can confidently rely on Xylo's platform to make informed decisions and effectively manage their biodiversity footprint with a high level of accuracy and confidence.
